According to Bloomberg Business Rankings, Chinese Mandarin is the top language worldwide for business other than English.  This, among many others, is why SSIS Malarayat retains Mandarin Chinese as its Foreign Language offering for academic year 2015-2016, with Dr. Susan Lin as the language instructor.

Meet our Foreign Language Teacher.  Teaching for more than 20 years, Dr. Susan Lin is indeed a seasoned educator.  She has worldwide exposures, growing up in Central America, Dominican Republic and obtaining her Master’s Degree in Public Health and Administration and Special Education in Australia and the US.  She has received recognition in her field getting the following awards:  Dean’s Bursary Award for International Postgraduate Students, Excellent Teacher Award, Excellent Research Award/ Excellent Advisor Award (2006 Diwan College of Management) and Endeavor Asia Award (2007, Australia).  As a linguist, she can speak popularly – used and international languages – English, Spanish, Chinese and Taiwanese.

In one of her interviews for the school paper, she says, “Language to me is not just words, structures and sentences; it is life.”  Elaine Caoibes, the student writer, exclaims that she is a “rarity”, describing her as “a motivating educator and an enthusiastic learner at the same time.”

This year, foreign language learning will again be enriched by this dynamic learner and educator.  SSIS welcomes her once again, as we expect more interesting Chinese discussions!
